Diego Casillas Invited to Join Staff on United States Mens Para National Team Ahead of 2022 World Cup
United States Senior Men's Para Team has invited Atlanta United Academy goalkeeper coach, Diego Casillas, to join the staff in preparation for the 2022 IFCPF Men's World Cup. The World Cup will be hosted in Barcelona, Spain between April 27th - May 16th.
"I am honored to be back on staff with the USA Men's Para National team two years after my first invite in 2020. This time around is a little more special, as I begin a new role as goalkeeper coach (previously in a coordinator role) with the team and have the opportunity to select, then prepare this group of goalkeepers for the World Cup." - Diego Casillas
The USA Men's Para National Team concluded their first camp in two years, having to put a halt on camps due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. The camp was held from January 19th - January 24th at The Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch. The Men's National Team also shared the complex with the newly launched USA Women's Para National Team, as they held an identification camp to formulate their future roster. CP Soccer and Tops Soccer also joined for United States Soccer Federation inaugural Adapt and Thrive event, creating opportunities for players with disabilities around the country to continue playing the game.
Casillas will be traveling with the team for two more camps before heading to the World Cup in Spain, including a camp at St George's Park National Football Centre, home the English FA. "I look forward to traveling to countries I haven't been to before while learning a completely different side of the game. I think it's wonderful that these opportunities exist for players with disabilities." - Casillas
We wish USA and Coach Diego the best of luck in their preparation for the 2022 IFCPF World Cup!
